Position Summary:  The Chemical operator is responsible for operating chemical processing system made up of combined sub-systems such as; controllers, bulk material charge, vacuume pressure, heating/cooling, condensation/distillation, measurement/testing systems, etc., in a safe, efficient and clean manner.  The Operator must have the demonstrated ability to carry out assigned process operations without direct supervision and to train others on them.

Essential job functions:

Must be strong in distillation and pressure reactions 

Operate chemical process equipment according to written procedures

Setup and adjust equipment during the chemical process per specifications

Start equiment and add raw materials automatically or manually

Monitor the chemical process and adjust controls to regulate temperature, pressure, vacuum level, flow of coolant, steam and time as specified

Perform standard tests for process control and/or send samples to the lab for analyses

Operate auxillary equipment

Routinely inspect equipment and report any problems to supervisor

Document operating data, activites and events on appropriate form and on a timely basis.

Ability to operate a forklift

Ability to read and act upon written procedures and instructions

HS diploma or GED
