Job Description:
This position maintains safe and secure Auction grounds, buildings and vehicles by guarding all Auction property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Patrol auction property periodically, checking all buildings, grounds, vehicles and parking lots. Watch for and report irregularities, such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
  • Examine doors, windows, fences and gates for unauthorized entry and make sure they are secure. Inspect vehicles, equipment and machinery for tampering.
  • Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles.
  • Observe and search if necessary departing Auction personnel to guard against theft of company property. Periodically check transported vehicles as situation warrants.
  • Notify police and/or fire department in case of fire or unauthorized persons. Permit authorized person's to enter property.
  • Complete daily security report summarizing all occurrences. Record data and prepare incident reports in case of employee relations' incidents, property damage, unusual occurrences and/or malfunctioning equipment or machinery.
  • Regulate vehicle and pedestrian traffic at the Auction entrance or on premises to maintain orderly traffic flow.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor, i.e., scan and receive cars, ensure vehicles exiting are authorized.
  • May be required to work overtime (more than 40 hours per week) as business needs dictate.

Qualifications:

Experience:
6 months to 3 years work experience in the security field.

Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Competencies/Skills:
Valid Driver's License. Effective communication skills required. Ability to interact with customers and employees. Must possess good problem-solving and organizational skills.

Physical Demands:
Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear. Frequently required to stoop, crouch and climb. Ability to exert force up to 20 pounds.

Work Environment:
Regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. Moderate Noise level.
